In Maine and sewing....

Well we are here in Maine and I've been quilting while studying for my exam, I'm pretty scared about that by the way!  Here's some pictures of what I've been working on....

back of the quilt

My star block for my online bee, my iron dripped a rust spot on final pressing, but I'll get it out later!  I'm also finishing my dad's quilt for Christmas that was started by my Papaw who died last year.  I know he'd be proud I'm taking up the craft :)

Oh and I'll leave you with a beautiful puppy who was curious about our move in August....

I love this guy!

New Blocks

So...I got a little more fabric, as I haven't made blocks this size and I haven't been happy with anything yet, I'll probably be redoing more blocks, and I need to figure out how to get more clean edges.

Anyways, a bit happier with these!

updated block 1

Hmmm... so I'm still working though what I want this quilt to be so I redid block 1, I guess I'll keep the other one around and maybe it will grow on me, this one is a bit less wonky as well!

FWQAL

So, the other thing that I'm doing is a quilt-a-long (QAL).  I've joined a group who is doing the farmer's wife quilt from the 1920s.  All of the blocks have stories from farmer's wives (I'll post more about this later).  Anyways here they are!

I'm not sure about these blocks yet, maybe I'll be changing my mind about color choices and adding more gray, I think I like the first one the best.  Hopefully, I'll get to make some more today!

My first (finished) quilting project

Wow! I couldn't believe that this one potholder took me this LONG.  It was my first attempt at free-motion quilting, which I'm now much more comfortable with.  I got the pattern from Oh Fransson! Her blog and book are AMAZING! Love all of her work, you should check it out.  Her patterns are great for beginners because she breaks down everything!!

This is the back---
I plan to make two more and give them to my mother-in-law when we go to Maine with some of my homemade jam and a bottle of local Virginia wine!  It would be really cool if I could find a bottle of strawberry wine :) Just to keep the strawberry theme!

Ok that's all for now!
